Interior Painting in Nashville, TN

What's Included in an Interior Paint Job

We talk to a lot of people about painting, and they ask the same thing: "What does that actually include?" Good question. Here's what interior painting means when you hire us.

Preparation Work
We move your furniture to the center of the room and cover it with plastic. Tall furniture gets moved out entirely if there's room. We lay drop cloths everywhere. We mask off trim, baseboards, light fixtures, outlets, switches — anything that isn't getting painted. We inspect walls for damage: holes, cracks, scuffs, water stains. We fill what needs filling. We sand rough spots. We clean dust and grime. This work takes up to 40% of the project time. It's tedious. It's also the difference between a paint job that looks great and one that doesn't.

Primer (When Needed)
Not every interior needs primer. New drywall does. A room that's had water damage should be primed. Covering a dark color with a light one usually benefits from primer. If primer is necessary, it's included in the price. We'll tell you upfront if we're using it.

Paint Application
Two full coats on every wall. We use Benjamin Moore or Sherwin-Williams — your choice. Quality paints hold color, resist stains, and last. We brush trim and edges. We roll walls. For crown molding, doors, door frames, and baseboards that are being painted, we apply the same two-coat standard. If a wall needs three coats (rare), we do three coats. The price doesn't change.

Trim, Doors, and Woodwork
If you're painting doors, door frames, baseboards, or crown molding, they get the same attention as walls. We sand if necessary, prime if necessary, and apply two coats of finish paint. Brush work on these details matters. See our trim and detail work page if that's the primary scope.

Final Cleanup
We clean up daily so your home isn't a demolition zone. On the last day, we remove all tape, drop cloths, and protective coverings. We sweep, vacuum, and wipe down dust from ceiling fans or surfaces that collect it. Your home should look lived-in when we leave — just with fresher walls.

How the Quote Process Works

No in-home sales visit. No waiting for someone to drive over and measure. You send us photos — walls, rooms, any damage or details we should know about — and we get back to you with a fixed-price quote within 24 hours. That's it.

The ICP who fills out our form is self-directed and comfortable making decisions without hand-holding. We built our process to match that. If you have questions after the quote lands, we answer them over text. Clear, fast, no pressure. Fill out the form below to get started.

The Interior Painting Process

Here's the timeline and what happens each step.

Day 1: Prep and Assessment
We arrive at 8 AM or whatever time works for your schedule. We assess the walls in natural light, note any issues, and start prep work. If there's significant wall repair needed (not just spackling), we'll confirm with you before we proceed. We prep the entire space — furniture moved, surfaces protected, walls ready — before any paint goes on.

Day 2–3: Painting
We start with primer (if needed) or go straight to the first coat of finish. Walls, trim, doors, and woodwork. First coat dries overnight. Second coat goes on the next day. In humid Nashville summers, drying takes longer — we build that into the timeline upfront.

Day 4–5: Finishing and Cleanup
Touch-ups, final inspection in natural light, removal of all tape and protective coverings. Walk-through with you — you point out anything you want addressed, we fix it.

Typical timeline: 5–7 business days. Larger homes (3,000+ sq ft) or homes with extensive trim take longer. You'll get a specific estimate in the quote.

What Actually Affects the Cost of Interior Painting

Price depends on a few things. Here's the honest breakdown:

Square footage is the primary driver. A 2,000 sq ft home costs less than a 5,000 sq ft home. We measure and calculate from the actual space being painted.

Wall condition matters. A room with smooth, painted walls costs less than one with water damage, holes, or peeling paint. Repair is part of the quote.

Color change affects coat count. Going from white to white takes fewer coats than going from dark brown to pale blue.

Trim and doors add cost based on linear footage and door count. We break this out in the quote.

Ceiling height adds time and equipment. Ten-foot ceilings cost more than eight-foot. Vaulted ceilings more still.

Paint brand affects material cost. Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams are both premium — we'll tell you the price difference upfront.
