We use Benjamin Moore Woodluxe penetrating oil-based stain — semi-transparent or semi-solid depending on your deck's condition. Woodluxe soaks into the wood fiber rather than sitting on top, which means it protects from within, fades gradually rather than peeling, and recoats cleanly when the time comes.
We don't recommend deck paint. Paint creates a surface film that fails in Nashville's humid climate — peeling, chipping, blistering. Woodluxe penetrating stain avoids all of that.
